# Email

Configure delivery and send mail through the framework.

Core-managed emails use `.env` settings. Resend is recommended for new installs:

```env
MAIL_SERVICE=resend
MAIL_FROM=no-reply@yourdomain.com
MAIL_FROM_NAME="Your Site Name"
RESEND_API_KEY=re_xxxxxxxxxxxx
SYSTEM_ALERT_EMAIL=alerts@example.com
```

`SYSTEM_ALERT_EMAIL` receives deduplicated fatal PHP error alerts and final job-failure alerts. If it is empty, Nimbly falls back to `ADMIN_EMAIL`. Alert delivery is queued, so the project scheduler must be running.

SMTP is also supported for projects that send through an SMTP provider:

```env
MAIL_SERVICE=smtp
MAIL_FROM=no-reply@yourdomain.com
MAIL_FROM_NAME="Your Site Name"
SMTP_HOST=smtp.example.com
SMTP_PORT=465
SMTP_USER=smtp-user
SMTP_PASSWORD=smtp-password
SMTP_SECURE=smtps
```

`SMTP_SECURE` accepts `smtps` for implicit TLS on port 465, or `starttls`/`tls`
for STARTTLS on port 587. Nimbly uses bundled PHPMailer internally as its SMTP
adapter; projects configure SMTP through `.env`, not by calling PHPMailer
directly. `MAIL_SERVICE=phpmailer` is accepted as a compatibility alias for
older configs.
